Welcome Message

Welcome to the Fit Fatty Forum, we’re glad you’re here! This forum was started by two fit fatties - Jeanette DePatie and Ragen Chastain - to be a space where people who are interested in fitness from a Health at Every Size® perspective can connect, get support, and make friends.  People of all sizes, ages, abilities, and activities have a place here.  You can participate in discussions, check out our photo gallery and video channel and add your own, and get answers to your questions from experts at Ask a Fit Fatty. 

The Fit Fatties Forum is an intentionally inclusive space.  We are committed to providing a safe and comfortable space for all people wishing to discuss fitness from a Health At Every Size (HAES) perspective, including people of color, people who are differently abled and LGBTQ people.  We are committed to building a space where all people feel safe addressing issues unique to their communities and cultures within the world of fitness.  We realize that from time to time, we may not get things right and/or could do things better.  We invite you to share your thoughts and suggestions with us at any time.

Before you get started, please take a moment to read our Community Commitments.  These are the commitments we make to each other to keep the community a safe, helpful, friendly space for everyone involved.  This is a moderated community and we are very serious about making sure that you have a great experience here so if you have any questions, comments, suggestions or concerns please feel free to contact us.

Community Commitments

·        Moving your body is great and wonderful at whatever level you do it. Fitness is a continuum, not a podium.

·        This community is open to people of all ages, sizes, fitness levels, and activities who are interested in discussing their fitness journey from a Health at Every Size® Perspective

·        Pro-Weight Loss Surgery, Pro-Diet Talk, Weight Loss Solicitation is strictly prohibited!  Fit Fatties promotes the HAES approach of “Health At Every Size”(R).   Promoting diet, weight loss, or weight loss surgery is prohibited.   While we respect the rights of all individuals to foster their own views, Fit Fatties regards dieting and diet-talk as both unhealthy and as a disparagement against fat folks. (Please note: Forum members are welcome to discuss these topics, as long they refrain from promoting them in any way.)

.      We are committed to maintaining a safe place to talk about fitness without negative body talk.  We understand that learning to love your body is a process, but we ask that you refrain from shaming your body or anyone else's while you are on this site.  All negative body talk will be moderated out.  If you're not sure what constitutes negative body talk, follow this link.

·        This community is fiercely anti-shame so if you don’t feel that you can be supportive and positive in a discussion then it’s best to walk away from it.

·        Do not give advice unless it is explicitly asked for.  If you want advice, ask for it explicitly.

·        Humans are imperfect. Sometimes we express our thoughts imperfectly, so we give each other the benefit of assuming good intentions in every post.

·        Have good intentions in every post that you make.

·        Respect that your experience not everyone’s experience.  Your mileage may vary. 

·        If you have any issues please let the mods know right away

·        This forum is awesome and the members are friendly and helpful so jump right in!

·        Do not spam the forum. Members are asked to join in the conversation. Simply posting links to products will get you suspended for spam.

Only Post What's Yours

Please make sure you hold all the rights to anything that you post.  You may only post pictures and videos for which you have express permission of both the subject and the photographer/ videographer.  Furthermore, Fit Fatties respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects its users to do the same.
